"I believe in the power of Pilates to transform your body, mind and spirit. I believe that with a little bit of time and energy, you can learn to move in a new way. And when you do, it changes everything about how you feel about yourself."

Pilates for Rehabilitation
Pilates for rehabilitation focuses on the needs of the individual client. Emphasis is placed on adequate mobility throughout the whole body to then increase strength through stability. Pilates for rehab strengthens the weak areas of the body, bringing balance and functionality, while gradually preparing you for more challenging movements.
Pilates for Athletics
Pilates is controlled movement, which enables athletes to become more attuned with their bodies. It heightens awareness to successfully execute more complex motor patterns by focusing on the breath, developing an innate ability to activate the core without stress on the other joints and the spine while balancing range of motion with strength.
Pilates for Overall Fitness
Pilates builds a strong core, increases strength and flexibility simultaneously, and improves posture, stability and alignment. It also emphasizes complete concentration on smooth, flowing movement, and proper breathing. You become acutely aware of how your body feels, where it is in space, and how best to control its movements.

“Learning Pilates with Valerie has been a life-changing experience. After almost two years I've lost close to 50 pounds, learned proper posture and movement, gained strength and flexibility, plus a sense of accomplishment and well-being that I have never experienced in prior fitness routines. Valerie is a fantastic instructor, she explains the mechanics of the movements, as well as their purpose, so you feel like you are really working towards your fitness goals. Plus, you have fun doing it. I cannot recommend her enough."

“Looking for a way to get more flexibility and strength? Pilates on the reformer was a game changer for me, but the best part was having Valerie Johnston as my trainer. She watches you like a hawk to make sure you are doing everything with the best form in order to get the best results. She's by far the best personal trainer I've ever had!”

I was new to Pilates when I tried it to help relieve a case of a horrible frozen shoulder resulting from trauma following cancer surgery. Valerie carefully curated my workouts to help me regain flexibility and strengthen my shoulder without causing further damage. Now that my shoulder has “thawed,” she is increasing the challenges to help me gain stability, strength and muscle tone. I always have fun at my sessions doing a mix of exercises I am familiar with and new “moves.” Highly recommend!
